Andres Guillermo Corona

November 27, 2005 — August 11, 2022

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Andres "The Boy" Guillermo Corona.
Andres was born on November 27, 2005, in Ridgecrest, CA, to the union of Guillermo "Memo" and Danielle Corona.  From the beginning, Andres faced many medical challenges but defied the odds. Despite being diagnosed with Microcephaly as well as other medical conditions, and medical professionals expecting him not to live much more than a week, Andres lived to be a teenager full of life and passion. He won the hearts of his family and many in his community with his contagious smile.  Andres was a senior at Sherman E Burroughs High School, and among many of his highlights, he was invited to the King of Hearts dance by his friend Randi in February of 2022.
Throughout his life, Andres participated in several medical studies, including the groundbreaking discovery by a board-certified medical geneticist, Dr. Robin D. Clark (Loma Linda University), of the genetic mutation that caused ANKLE2-Related Microcephaly in Andres and his sister, Gabriella. As a result of this discovery, Andres was featured in an article in the September 25, 2014 issue of Cell Medical Journal. The discovery will enable medical professionals to provide a diagnosis for families impacted by ANKLE2-Related Microcephaly worldwide for many years to come.
Andres passed peacefully, and pain-free on Thursday, August 11, at 7:00 am, surrounded by his family and closest friends at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital.
Andres is preceded in death by his sister Gabriella Corona,  his great grandfather Charles P Lopez and his great aunt Tato. He leaves to cherish his memory: His parents, Guillermo "Memo" and Danielle, his siblings Gulianna, Nikko, and Manual, his grandparents (Luis and Josefina Corona, Andres and Janice Preciado), his great grandmother Julia Lopez, and a host of other cousins, uncles, aunts, godparents, and close friends.
The family is holding a celebration of life for Andres on Friday, August 26, at 2:00 pm at Ridgecrest Vineyard Church at 1000 N Norma St, Ridgecrest, CA 93555.
