Antonio O. Cañez also known as "Tony", was born March 5, 1938 in Coolidge, Arizona. He has gone to be with the Lord on June 26, 2018. He was one of eleven children born to Manuel and Juanita Cañez. Tony confessed his faith in Christ at an early age.
Tony is best described as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle & friend to many.
Tony grew up in Lamont California. In I957 he joined the Air Force with his tour at Lowery Air Force Base Denver, Colorado. After his tour ended, he returned home to Bakersfield and started his legacy.
In 1969 Tony met the love of his life, Marta, in Bakersfield. The two married and relocated their family to Trona, Ca. He began his career of 30 years as a machinist at Kerr McGee Chemical Corporation.
He lived life to the fullest, whether it was spending time with family and friends, shooting pool, singing, playing the guitar or playing 18 holes on the golf course. Yes, he was an avid golfer! His smile would light up a room.
Tony was not a man of many words, however, a wise man, but one thing for sure is that he loved his family with his whole heart.
Tony is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Marta of 49 years; parents ~ Manuel & Juanita Cañez; siblings ~ Emma, Lupita, Frank & Manuel Cañez; He is survived by his children ~ Ricky Cañez (Linda), Sabrina Cañez, Gloria Hernandez (Eddie), Esther Bacerra (Jose)
Jenny Melendez (Paul), all of Bakersfield CA, Peter Sanchez of Ridgecrest, CA, Rolando Sanchez of Orem, Utah, Monica Cañez-Nelson (Michael), Marina Skipworth (Matthew) of Ridgecrest CA; siblings ~ Connie Flores (Rudy), Marianne Cañez, Raymond Cañez (Sandra) of Bakersfield CA, Jane Espinoza (Jesse) of San Jose CA, Carlos Cañez (Angie) Avenal CA; 30 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends......
