Barbara Goodwin Jayne

Barbara Goodwin Jayne was born in Philadelphia, PA to Troy William Goodwin and Dorothy Otis Goodwin on June 16, 1930, and passed peacefully, after a year long fight with breast cancer, on October 30, 2021 with her daughter at her side.

She and her husband, CAPT (CHC) Edward Eben Jayne, USN, settled in Ridgecrest and made it their home following his retirement from the Navy, and appointment to Ridgecrest United Methodist Church (RUMC) in July 1991 where they served the RUMC Family and community for sixteen years.  Barbara had a sweet voice and heart for service in praise of the Lord. She was an avid reader, volunteered with the Navy and Monterey Bay Aquarium, and was talented in photography and Ikebana flower arranging among other arts. She is survived by her sister: Dorothy Goodwin Blakeley (husband Kenneth Blakeley); son: Mark Kevin Jayne (fiancée Dia Albertsen); daughter: Karen Jayne Reuter (husband Joseph Reuter); and grandchildren: Christina Reuter Gorman and John Edward Reuter. She was preceded home to the Lord by her parents, Troy and Dorothy; husband of 64 years, Ed; and two sisters: Virginia Goodwin and Marjorie Goodwin.

A memorial service will be held at Ridgecrest UMC, 639 N Norma St. Ridgecrest, CA 93555 on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 10:30AM with internment at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the RUMC in care of the Jim Lewis scholarship fund or Project Heifer.
