Beth C. Armogida

A rare and beautiful soul got her wings and departed this Earth on 20 February 2020, age 70, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.  Beth C. Armogida (born Beth C. Ansotegui) was born in Winnemucca, Nevada, the oldest of three children.  Beth was of Basque heritage, of which she was very proud. Beth was an independent and very intelligent child, growing up in mining camps and on ranches.

Beth married Rich Perrine in 1966 and gave birth to a son, Richard.  Beth spent time in Germany, returning to the United States in 1970.  Beth eventually moved to Ridgecrest, California.  While raising a young son and working, she attended Cerro Coso Community College where she became the student body president.  Beth continued on with her studies at Cal State San Bernardino, ultimately being awarded Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees in experimental psychology.

Beth made excellent use of her psychology expertise.  She worked for the Navy at China Lake in various capacities, including equal employment opportunity officer, head of staff, business/financial manager, master organizational developer, writer for the admiral, branch head, division head, and certified Navy mediator/facilitator (of which, there were only three in the entire Navy). Beth was also awarded the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award in recognition of her contributions to science and technology, as well as her employee development and leadership.

Beth married Frank Armogida in 2003.  After 32 years of federal service, Beth retired from the Navy in 2011. Beth's gardening skills were unsurpassed; she was a walking encyclopedia of horticulture. Beth had a love of her community and especially the Maturango Museum.  Beth was a major contributor to the "Beth Armogida Planetarium" that brought the stars and universe to thousands of local students.

Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and mentor, Beth was all of these. A common theme among people that knew and loved Beth is how honored they are to have known her.

Beth is survived by her husband Frank, son Richard Perrine, Jr. (Loretta), stepson Daniel Armogida (Andrea), stepdaughter Elizabeth Armogida, grandson Richard Perrine III, granddaughter Taylor Armogida, grandson Aidan Armogida and great-granddaughter Avery Goodarzirod, sister Chris Shuey (David), and Uncle Bob Ansotegui. Beth was preceded in death by her parents Victor and Neva and brother, Dean Ansotegui.

An interment will be held at the Desert Memorial Park columbarium in Ridgecrest, Saturday, 7 March 2020, at 3 pm and the reception will immediately follow. A celebration of life will be held at the Maturango Museum on Sunday, 8 March 2020, beginning at Noon with a reception afterward. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Maturango Museum or to the City of Hope.
