She is survived by two daughters, Charlotte
Blackmon Collins of Ridgecrest, CA, and Dorene
Mollenhauer of Beaverton, OR, by four
grandchildren, Michael Warner of LaVerne, CA,
Jeffrey Mollenhauer of Morgan Hill, CA, Robert
Mollenhauer of Beaverton, OR, and Allyson
Mollenhauer Benson of Portland, OR, and by five
great grandchildren, Jeremy, Miranda and Valerie
Warner and Aidan and Audrey Mollenhauer.
Betty was preceded in death in 2005 by her
husband of 60 years, Albert Roland Blackmon, in
2010 by her son, Charles Sigurd Blackmon, and in
2014 by grandchildren Tiffany Jean Warner and
Todd James Blackmon.
Betty was born and grew up in Enterprise,
Alabama and married Albert Blackmon after WWII.
In 1952, they moved with their young family to
Ridgecrest, CA where Al got a job at N.O.T.S. China
Lake as an electrical engineer.
Betty was a homemaker and was active in the
elementary school PTA. She kept an immaculate
home, sewed beautiful dresses for her daughters, and
loved gardening. Her yard was always an oasis of
green grass, roses, daffodils, iris and petunias. She
was active in WACOM and managed their thrift
store. When the children were in high school, she
went to work at Miss J's, a dress shop on Balsam
Ave. in Ridgecrest, as she loved fashion and clothing.
She was always slim and a very stylish dresser.
After
a few years, she was offered a job as a teller at the
Bank of America where she worked until Al retired.
They bought a condo in Greenbrook Manor, her
home until her recent passing. She will be terribly
missed by her family and her many friends
