Betty Jo Compton

November 13, 1925 — May 30, 2023

Betty Jo Compton passed away May 30th 2023 at the age of 97

Betty Jo Compton was born on November 13th, 1925, in Stringtown, Oklahoma. She was one of seven children born to Irving and Vaye Winters. Betty graduated from high school and soon after, along with her sister Sue, traveled to California to work as one of the Original Rosie the Riveters. After a year of working in the shipyards, Betty returned to her hometown where she married her childhood sweetheart, Harden James Compton Jr. They had three children, Alan, Brad, and Clint. Betty and her family moved to Orange County, California, where they took over the family business, The Compton Cleaners. Later, Betty started working at Northrop Grumman and retired in 1983. She retired again after working at NWC.

A true lady,  Betty was always dressed in her Sunday best.  She had a passion for beautiful clothes, jewelry, heels and Hollywood regency glam furnishings. She loved her country music, country dancing, and western movies.  Country was in her blood.  She loved to cook and was always cutting out new recipes to try.  Christmas was her favorite time of year and was known to keep her multiple Christmas trees up all year long. However,  Betty's true passion was her family.  There was nothing she loved more. "Mom" and "Grandmother" were her favorite titles of all.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Irving and Vaye Winters.  Her siblings,  Ronnie Dale,  Bo,  Mable Sue,  Lou Ann,  Bobby June & Linda Kaye.  Her husband &  best friend Harden James Jr. and her son, Bradley Compton.

She is survived by:

Her sons- Alan Compton (wife-Hannah) and Clint Compton (wife- Regina).

Her daughter-in-law - Cindy Compton.

Her grandchildren - Ashly Palomino (husband-John), Amber Compton, Travis Compton (wife- Fariba) Josh Pierce, Brittney Pierce, Alicia Compton &  Aden Compton.
