Candelaria ( Candy) Ribultan joined her lord and savior. She died peacefully Monday morning May 1, 2023.
She was born and raised in Philippines. She was from a small city of Candelaria on the island of Luzon. Candy was the sixth child to Venancio and Marcelina Edquiban. She was a teacher after college. In 1954, she married Alex Ribultan from the same city and an enlisted U.S. sailor. Candy and Alex spent the first years of marriage at a Navy Air Field in Philippines.
Candy, Alex , and their first two children were permanently stationed in California in 1958. They moved to China Lake in 1962 as a family of six.
Candy was a devoted wife, loving mother, wonderful grandmother, and a proud great grandmother. She remained close to her siblings and their families. She was happy living in Ridgecrest and made many friends.
Since 2017, her home was at High Desert Haven in Ridgecrest. The assisted living facility provided the desired watchful care and community setting which kept her active and socially engaged until the last year.
Living in Ridgecrest since 1962, Candy had many wonderful memories of military community living, frequent family gatherings, and decades of friendships. While being a homemaker, she raised her family and worked part time as an Albertson clerk. In early retirement, she provided years of loving day care of family friends' children and elderly.
Candy spent many years of retired life enjoying prayerful devotion including support of St Ann Catholic Church's Legion of Mary and Adoration.
Candy said that her source of happiness was from the love of her family and watching them grow. Her joy was cooking especially preparing filipino food for her grandchildren.
She is survived by son Ted and his wife Nancy of Ridgecrest , son Van and his wife Kadaeja of Orcutt, CA, daughter Delia Vasquez of Bay City, TX and Rex and his wife Karen of Ridgecrest. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 brother, and many dozens of nephews/nieces. She is predeceased by her husband Alex in 2013, her parents, and 8 of her 9 siblings.
It is requested that any money intended to be spent on flowers or gifts to the family should be donated to charity
