Carolyn Ruth (Waters) Grossardt

Carolyn Ruth (Waters) Grossardt, 73, passed away on March 4th, 2021 after a long illness at home. Born to Ray Edward Waters and Ruby Carolyn Waters on January 22, 1948 in Hardin, Missouri. She spent her younger years in Missouri. In 1957 the family moved to Shafter, California where she attended grade school. In 1961 they moved to the Kern River Valley where she graduated high school in 1966.

Carolyn worked on A. Brown Company Ranch with her father Ray and favorite brother-in-law William, herding cattle up to the Sierra's. Also an accomplished horse back rider, driving cattle and riding horses were her true passions. She began waitressing around this time for 50 years until she was forced to retire in 2016 at the age of 69 due to health. Carolyn worked countless places, most notably the Cane Brake Cafe as well as the Cottage Cafe in Ridgecrest where she became best friends with her bosses Chuck and Anita Morgan. Her last job was at the Chatter Box in Wofford Heights. She truly loved her profession.

In 1974 she met her beloved husband Wilbur. They spent 43 years together until his passing in 2017. She loved to be at home watching western movies and surrounding herself with the things she loved; horses, cows, and most of all her John Wayne collectibles. Carolyn was generous, thoughtful, and kind. A loving mother to her 5 children and 6 grandchildren she will be terribly missed by her whole family.

Preceded in death by her parents Ray and Ruby Waters, in-laws Willie and Pat Grossardt, husband Wilbur, brothers-in-law Bill, Don and Larry, and niece Ruby Lynn. She is survived by her sisters Darlene and husband William Adams, Beverly Rodgers, and Linda Wilson. Also by children Judy, Dina, Dusty, Cindi, and Diana; as well as grandchildren Rayann, Rayn, Hayden, Nicholas, Andrew and Samantha. Additionally survived by great grandchildren River, Bella and Nova; nephews Denny, Jeff and Eddie, niece Sherry and her husband David, as well as soon to be son-in-law Jeff. She will be truly missed.
