Charlotte Ann Penry

Charlotte Ann Penry, 76, went home to be with the Lord on June 11,2019. Born May 6, 1943 in Torrington, Wyoming, Charlotte relocated to Bakersfield, California in 1956, before settling down in Ridgecrest in 1981, where she met her husband of 35 years. Charlotte worked as an accountant for over 40 years, until her retirement in 2005.

In her spare time, Charlotte enjoyed crocheting blankets and shawls, cooking, baking, and canning the produce from her garden. Her love for helping others extended to animals, and she became one of the founding members of the Almost Eden Animal Rescue. She was also a member of numerous other local clubs and organizations. Charlotte enjoyed leading and participating in Bible studies, and attending Bethel Baptist Church. Through this, she was able to touch many lives, and was often referred to as "Mom." She loved the Lord fiercely, and showed that to many people.

Charlotte is preceded in death by parents Reuben and Esther Burbach Herdt, brothers Reuben Laverne Herdt and Duane Herdt. She is survived by her husband Mark Penry, son Robert Mathews (Julie), stepson Jeff Penry (Marian), son Ronald Mathews (Susan), stepdaughter Leesa Penry, sister Javene Morris (Sam), brother Rick Herdt (Charlene), 10 grandkids, 13 great grandkids, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The viewing is Tuesday June 18 ^th at Holland and Lyons from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday June 19 ^th at Bethel Baptist church at 10:00am. Graveside service and reception will follow.
