Obituary

In the early hours of November 11, 2025, Veterans Day—Dale Phillip Moore, 63, peacefully left his earthly home to begin his eternal life. To know Dale was to know a man who brought light wherever he went, restoring warmth and comfort to every place and every person he touched.

Born on September 3, 1962, in Norfolk, Virginia, Dale was the youngest of five children of Jeannette “Jean” Hunt and Phillip “Mike” Moore. He grew up on the Navy base at China Lake, California, surrounded by a lively family, close friends, and the desert landscape he grew to love. His childhood was filled with adventure, humor, and stories he later shared with a twinkle in his eye and his unmistakable smile. A graduate of Sherman E. Burroughs High School, Dale spent much of his life in Ridgecrest, 56 years, in the community that always felt like home.

Dale worked for many years at the local Toyota dealership, where his easygoing nature and genuine kindness often turned customers into lifelong friends. He was the kind of person who showed up when someone needed help—whether they were a close friend or a stranger. Though he held many roles throughout his life, he felt most drawn to electrical work. That calling came full circle at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, the base of his childhood, where he became a lead electrician in 2016 and later moved into supervisory and management positions, including oversight of the Emergency Call Center. His dedication, skill, and leadership earned deep respect from those who worked alongside him.

Outside of work, Dale’s spirit was adventurous and gentle. He loved stargazing in the quiet desert nights and could effortlessly point out constellations. Animals were naturally drawn to him, earning him the affectionate title of “the dog whisperer.” Above all, Dale’s greatest joy was his daughter, Brianna. Their bond was profound and unwavering. He coached her sport teams, celebrated every milestone, and encouraged her to believe in her own strength. She was, without question, the legacy he cherished most.

Dale is survived by his daughter, Brianna Moore; her mother and his dear friend, Katherine Sepulveda; his siblings Laurie DesJardin (Jim), Leslie Schmidt Crans (Peter), and Michael Moore (Amie); his sister-in-law Kathy Moore; his nephews; and countless friends who felt honored to know him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeannette “Jean” Moore and Phillip “Mike” Moore, and by his brother, Jim Moore.

Dale leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, devotion, and light—light he shared freely and generously. Though he has reunited with those who went before him, he remains forever in the hearts of all who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Cornerstone Church, 443 W. Inyokern Rd., Ridgecrest, CA, with a reception to follow.
