Daniel Duane Vander Werf

On May 20, 2022 Daniel (Dan) Vander Werf passed away at the age of 87 in hospice care in West Covina, California.

Dan was born January 29, 1935 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Dan graduated from Michigan State University in 1957 with a Bachelors in Physics, and later earned a Masters in Physics. Dan worked more than 25 years as electrical engineer, much of it as a civil servant at China Lake Naval Weapons Center.

In 1958, Dan married Marianna. Dan and Marianna had four sons: Mark, Phil, Paul, and Drew. After Dan retired, his favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, shoot pool, and play cribbage.

Predeceased by his wife Marianna, Dan is survived by Mark and wife Wenda, Phil and wife Molly, Paul and wife Cheryl, and Drew and wife Sherral. Dan is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Carla (Vander Werf) McCrystal, Melissa (Vander Werf) Galarza, Rae Vander Werf, Cori (Vander Werf) Petersen, Julie (Vander Werf) Tussing, Veronica Vander Werf, and Danielle Vander Werf, and one great granddaughter, Sophia Tussing.
