DAVID ROBERT HAMM
David was born in Bangor, Pennsylvania on February 24, 1957 to Vivian A. (Bonney) Hamm and James G. Hamm and passed away on December 4, 2020 at the Hospital in Ridgecrest, CA. He was the second of 2 children.
After High School he worked in the Food Service industry until 1985 when he joined the Navy on a $50 bet with his boss. He attended boot camp in the Great Lakes and went on to school December 1985 to October 1986 in Millington, TN and November 1986 to February 1987 VA-122 at NAS Lemoore, CA. After the schools he was stationed at NWC China Lake March 1987 to May 1989. He went to school at VA-128 June 1989 to September 1989 at NAS Whidbey Island, WA. In October 1989 he was stationed in VA- 185 at Atsugi, Japan and on the USS Midway for Operation Desert Storm. His wife joined him there and in October 1991 we moved to Whidbey Island, WA for duty with VA-52 until January 1994 when we came back to WTS China Lake, CA. David became a Plank Owner for VX-31 when they stood up in 1995. In Feb 1997 he was stationed at VFA-137 NAS Lemoore, CA and in February 2001 came back to VX-31 at NAWWD China Lake, CA. His last tour took him back to VFA-137 at NAS Lemoore where he retired in April 2006 as a Chief Avionics Technician (ATC). As David put it, he spent "20 years, 6 months and 25 days" in the Navy. A career he never regretted. Later, he worked as a contractor for VX-31 and DCS.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Father, Older Brother Bruce Hamm and Niece Shelly Vogel. He leaves his wife June of the family home, his daughter Jennifer Marinelle and 2 grandsons Jacob and Justin all of Myrtle Beach, SC, his step-daughter Andrea McQueen and 3 step-grandchildren Jacob Lovell, Katherine Lovell and Stephanie Clifton. He also leaves his friends and Navy Family from the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
A service will be held next year on a date to be announced.
