David John Henry Richter

We will greatly miss our beloved David J H Richter. On September 30, 2023, he has been promoted to be with our heavenly Father Lord Jesus Christ. David was born on December 07,1940 along with his brother Dale Richter to Matilda and Ernest Richter in Bellevue, Illinois. He and his brother grew up with his Aunt Ethel and Uncle JD Crews in Alamogordo, New Mexico.  After graduating High School in 1959, he enlisted in the Air Force. After completing the four years of service, he pursued studies at Walla Walla University in Walla Walla Washington where he graduated with a BS Electrical Engineering. While he was attending college, he married Linda Trude and settled down in Ridgecrest, CA in 1971. They had a son Jason Richter in 1977.  They divorced in 1982. In 1987 he met Linda Drinnon and married in 2000.  He put in 30 years at NAWS China Lake, CA, retired in 1997 and started his vending business Mouthful of Goodness to keep busy. He was a proud father with whom he loved to "kibitz (chat)" with and this included all friends and family.  He was extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about a variety of subjects. He was an avid reader and loved discussing mathematics and politics. He loved to build with his hands, listening to music and keeping his yard green and flowering. He had a soft heart for his family, birds and his dogs. He is survived by his current wife Linda Richter, brother Dale Richter, son Jason Richter, daughter Allyson Ellenson, son Chris Drinnon. Grandchildren Kai Ellenson, Christopher Drinnon, Marissa and Alex Ellenson and Great Granddaughter Gianna Ellenson. David was a loving husband and father, a committed Christian, and a patriotic citizen.  He will be missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at Holland & Lyons Mortuary on January 18th 2024 at 11:00 AM. Veterans Honors will be held at Riverside National Cemetery on January 19th 2024 at 1:00 PM.
