David Rockwell Post was born November 19, 1943, in Red Mountain, CA. He was delivered
into this world by Thomas A. Drummond MD at his hospital in Red Mountain, CA.
Dave grew up in Randsburg, CA, in a small house attached to the General Store, which his
parents owned and operated. He attended elementary school and high school through his junior
year in Randsburg, moving to Trona High School for a short while, and finishing up at
Burroughs in Ridgecrest, graduating in 1961. In 1963, he married his high school sweetheart,
Judy Baker, and they had 3 daughters together. During these early years, Dave owned and
operated two gas stations in Red Mountain, and also worked for General Motors in Van Nuys,
CA. Dave and Judy then settled in Ridgecrest, CA, where Dave managed, and eventually owned
and operated, Big "A" Auto Parts (later under the Carquest brand). Dave and Judy later divorced,
and in 1991 Dave met and later married his forever love, Harriet MacLean Post.
Dave and Harriet spent their years together doing the things that made them happy. This included
taking their RV to Quartzsite, AZ for the winters, camping in the various campgrounds up and
down highway 395 (especially Glass Creek), and spending time in Death Valley for various
periods of time during the Death Valley 49ers Encampment. In their later years, they bought a
Jeep, and enjoyed Jeeping with friends in the desert surrounding Ridgecrest.
Over the years, Dave served in many capacities with the local Optimist Club, and later with the
Ridgecrest Elks Lodge #1913. He also enjoyed his time when Post & Post Inc, (Big "A" Auto
Parts) sponsored and often helped the pit crew of the 32C late model owned by Paul Cowan
Racing.
Dave thoroughly enjoyed visits with his daughters, grandkids and great-grandkids. The kids
made him smile and he enjoyed keeping up with their lives and hearing about all the activities
and how they were doing in school. When the older ones were ready to drive, he was always
available for advice on cars and had been known to come to the rescue a time or two in
Burroughs parking lot when mom and dad were stuck at work, to help get them back on the road.
Dave passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on December 9, 2022, after a short battle with
pancreatic cancer. While we will miss him dearly, we are forever grateful for the peaceful days
we were able to spend with him at the end of his life, as he faced the final chapter of his journey
here. Dave was preceded in death by his father, George Post and mother Constance Post. Dave is
survived by his wife, Harriet Post, daughters Cyndy (John) Bradley, Debbie (Stacy) Smith,
Connie (Tyler) Shropshire, bonus son David (Terri) Lane, sisters Carolyn Brennan and Meredith
(Gladys) Post, nephews David Pruett, Gregg (Cyndi) Pruett and niece Karen (Randy) Brown. He
is also survived by his grandchildren Joey (Randa) Rivera, Karleen (Keyara) Moran, Katelyn
Unhassobiscay, Brianna Bradley, CeeAnna (Josh) Robertson, Jordan Smith, and Sophie Smith,
as well as great-grandchildren Atieleigh, Nova, Harley, Shai, Lia, Karter and Graciella.
