Diane Lee Sturgeon

On Sunday, October 6 th , 2019, Diane Lee Sturgeon, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away at the age of 78. Diane was born on September 26, 1941 in Appleton Minnesota to Vincent and Luella Zurn.  Her family moved to Ridgecrest, California in 1952 where she has been a resident ever since. Ridgecrest is where she met the love of her life, Benny Joe Sturgeon. They wed on October 18, 1958 and raised four daughters, Kimberly, Keri, Kelly and Jody and two sons, Jack and John.  Diane received her Associates Degree in Science Business Data Processing and was a Computer Programmer for Boeing until she retired in 1996. Diane loved her family and God fiercely and in her younger years she was a member of Legion of Mary at Saint Ann's Catholic Church in Ridgecrest.   She was loyal and generous, always wanting to spoil her grandchildren with small gifts or with stickers and dollar bills. She had a passion to travel and see the world, preferably by boat. She really loved the holidays and went all out to make each one special. She was known for her decorations but especially for her Christmas Villages.

Diane was proceeded in death by her father and mother, Vincent and Luella Zurn, sister Dorrine Hess and husband Benny Sturgeon.  She is survived by her sisters Patricia Harris and Bonnie Gregory, brother Kenny Zurn, children Kim Sturgeon, Keri and Bret Catcott, Kelly and David Boss, Jack and Suzy Sturgeon, Jody and Andy Morton, John Sturgeon, 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

There will be a Viewing and Rosary held on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Hollands and Lyons Mortuary, 216 S. Norma St. in Ridgecrest.  Viewing will be from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm with the Rosary from 5:30 pm-6:30 pm. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Saint Ann's Catholic Church, 446 W. Church Ave., Ridgecrest.  In lieu of flowers, Dianne's family asks that you make a donation in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association @ act.alz.org.
