Donnie Dean French left this world on December 16, 2021 at the age of 83. He will be sadly missed and will always hold a place in our hearts. We will always remember dad's witty remarks, how he signed his name with a happy face, and for taking care of his family. We would love you to come and honor his life at Desert Memorial Park, at the Rose Garden, on October 15 th , 2022 @ 9:30 am.
Don is survived by his daughters, Kim Williams, Tracy French, Terri Campbell, brother Dorsey French and sister-in-law Hope, their daughter LeeAnn, sister-in-law Jacque Pittman and brother-in-law Doug, and their children Carrie, and Steve, grandchildren: Moriah, Janna, Gabriel, Jacob, Luke, and Ben, and great grandchildren: Gwendolyn, Evelyn, Roselyn, and Elliott.
He was married to Charlyn French for 42 years. They met in Taft, California while going to school. They had known each other since Char was in middle school getting married after she graduated high school. He was a devoted and loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather.
Don had a passion for handball and golf! Don and Char enjoyed camping, gardening, working on MANY projects, cooking, listening to county music, going to Pismo Beach, and spending time with family and friends.
Don worked at China Lake Naval Weapons Center, as a Principal Analyst, Program Manager and Computer Specialist for over 36 years. He was a Senior Master Sergeant E-8 in the Airforce for over 20 years. After retiring from the NWC he worked as a contractor for a few years. He was awarded many honors over the years, too many to name!
Dad was first a carpenter and innovator. He built a huge two-story apartment and two car garage at their home on Benson Ave. He built a towering rock barbeque also on Benson Ave among doing many home and yard projects. He was a planner and a knowledgeable financial advisor always willing to listen and give good advice. Dad was a teacher instructing his girls to be independent and equipped us with valuable life skills. Dad had a strong moral compass and always strove to do the right thing. He loved, admired, and cherished Char always being there for her through serious accidents and her many surgeries. He enjoyed good jokes, funny sayings, and happy faces! He like to end conversations with "have a beautiful day". Dad, your humor is missed.
