Doris Faye Bush
26 May 1928 – 5 December 2022
Doris passed away on the morning of 5 Dec. 2022 at High Desert Haven. She was
born on 26 May 1928 to Frank B. and Gertrude B. Davis in San Francisco, CA. She
spent her early years in Paradise, CA. She attended Chico State College where she met
her husband Robert "Bob" Bush. They both moved to Ridgecrest in 1954 where she
remained until her death.
In 1958, they started their family with adopting their son Kip. In 1962, they were
expecting their second child Maryann who, unfortunately, was stillborn. However, in
1964, they welcomed their first daughter K'Lyn into the world.
Doris and Bob raised their family on China Lake Naval Base. During this time,
Doris and Bob enjoyed square and round dancing together. Doris also dove into many
other activities including cake decorating, ceramics, crocheting, and needlepoint. She
shared her artistic side with those she loved by making cakes for all occasions, gifting
her ceramics, crocheting baby blankets, afghans, hats, gloves, scarves, and decorating
white handkerchiefs with needlepoint borders or initials. Anyone who received one of
these many items loved the personal touch that Doris put in all her pieces.
Doris was a part-time dental hygienist throughout the valley and was on call
when local offices needed her. After her son suffered a life-altering accident, she spent
her time caring for him until he moved to Northern California. During that time, Doris
and Bob bought a house in Ridgecrest and the family moved off base and spent time
doing some remodeling of their new home. In 1983, Bob passed away. After his death,
Doris turned her attention to working and providing for her family. When Kip moved
back to Ridgecrest a few years later, she took care of him until his passing in 2010.
Doris went to work as a receptionist and spent the next five years growing these
skills. After that time, she decided to devote her time to volunteer work. She joined the
Pink Ladies in March 1989 and dedicated over 7,000 hours and twenty-nine years of
service. Doris also was active in several groups, including LEK Sorority and WACOM.
In 1996, she joined the grandmother society and was thrilled to be "Gram" to Skylar.
She is survived by her daughter K'Lyn Muse of Ridgecrest, CA and granddaughter
Skylar Muse of Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Gertrude Davis, husband Robert Bush, infant daughter Maryann, son Kip Bush and son-in-law Max Muse
As per her request, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest in the spring
of 2023 with the rest of her family in Paradise, CA.
