Earl Lamar Wicker, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 19, 2026, in Ridgecrest, California, surrounded by the love of his family.
Earl was born on January 27, 1939, in Valdosta, Georgia. Throughout his life, he was known for his dedication to God, his community and deep love for his family and friends. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1962 and proudly served his country for four years. After his service, Earl worked for Contel Phone Company before building a meaningful career as the Director of Range Communications for China Lake Naval Air Weapons Center, where he was respected for his leadership, knowledge, and commitment to his work.
Outside of his career, Earl lived life fully and enthusiastically. He was an avid adventurer who especially enjoyed exploring the outdoors, searching for petroglyphs, and spending time with the Gear Grinders 4x4 Club. Earl spent many years racing and wrenching on dirt bikes, classic cars and just tinkering in the garage. He believed strongly in service and community involvement, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, serving as a Boy Scout leader, participating in the Rotary Club and a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He also found joy in dancing as part of the TLC Dancers, a country dance group, and was a role model to many through his kindness, generosity, and calm steady presence.
Earl is survived by his beloved spouse, Barbara Wicker; his son, Eric Wicker and wife Tonya; his daughter, Pam Martinez and husband Ron; his brother, Richard Wicker and wife Linda; and his cherished grandchildren, Kaelee and wife Brianna, Libby, Seth, Maya, Cotis and Nolan.
He will be remembered for his adventurous heart, unwavering love for his family, and the countless lives he touched through friendship, mentorship, and service. His legacy will live on in the memories shared by all who knew and loved him.
