Thousand Palms

Elizabeth "Bette" Jane Davis Fox born May 15th 1922 passed away on April 14, 2019 in Thousand Palms, California. She was the last remaining sibling born to William Davis and Tiene Jensen Davis in San Francisco, California.

Bette grew up and went to school in San Francisco; she attended Lux Jr. College and San Francisco State College. She met her husband Lawrence "Larry" Fox in the Ridgecrest Area and got married in the first Baptist church of San Francisco. They raised their three children (David, Gary, and John) in Ridgecrest and was a Den mother in Cub Scouts.  After her husband Larry was discharged from the Navy in 1945, Bette began operating the first public Library in Ridgecrest. Bette began pursuing an educational career once she finished raising her family. She was a Teacher's Aide, an Elementary School Teacher, and eventually a Payroll and Curriculum Secretary at the Sierra Sands District Office until retirement in 1982. Bette enjoyed crocheting Afghans, making unique Jell-O recipes, watching game shows, and making everyone laugh. She enjoyed her once a month gathering of her girlfriends to play Bunco.

Her retirement years were spent traveling the world with her husband Larry. They went on many road trips and cruises and documented their journeys for their future grandchildren and great grandchildren to enjoy. In 2001 they moved to the Palm Springs Area to be closer to their son (David) and his family.  She was married to Larry for 67 years before he passed away in 2012. In the last 7 years they spent apart, she was cared for by her granddaughter Amanda Fox. Bette passed away at 96 years old surrounded by loved ones.

Bette is now eternally reunited with her parents, all 4 of her siblings, her husband Lawrence, and two of her sons Gary and John. She is survived by her son David (Rosalie) Fox, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Desert Memorial Park in Ridgecrest, California on Thursday April 25th at 1pm.
