Long time Ridgecrest resident Mr. Ernest David Loscar passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at his home. He was 96. He lived a rich and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love for his family and community.
Born in July 1927, in Pennsylvania. He was married to Nancie for 48 years prior to her death in May 2006. He is survived by his only son, Tim Loscar, and his daughter-in-law, Lynn Beyer Loscar, and seven grandchildren, and 6.5 great grandchildren, Joshua Loscar, wife, Rachel and their children Aaron, Levi, Gideon and Enoch, Caleb Loscar, fiance', Jordon Jackson, Rebekah Cooper, husband Richard, and their children Dalton and Emma, and one on the way, Isaac Loscar, wife, Becca, Joseph, wife, Becky, Benjamin Loscar, and Sarah Harper, husband, Nick.
He served in the Navy as a Ships fitter, from 1945-1947. He was a Pattern Maker at Pell Engineering, he worked in construction as a framer, and superintendent for many local construction projects. He was a Public Works Supervisor for NWC Joiner shop, and ended his civil service career as a Public Works supervisor of the Carpenter Shop.
His hobbies included being a collector of antiques, he was a fellow member in the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, he made things for Nancie's Miniatures Club, and participated with the Kern County Mine Search and Rescue. He was a volunteer fire captain. He and Nancie were Mr. & Mrs. Claus for many decades bringing joy to the local children.
Funeral Service will be at Holland & Lyons Mortuary, Tuesday, April 16, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Kern Valley Search and Rescue, P.O.C. Paulina Stanfield at (661) 342-0463.
