Fanch Rogers Jr., was born on March 12, 1940 in Altheimer, Arkansas to the late Fanch Sr., and Mary Rogers. Fanch (affectionately known as Honeymoon) completed his journey on earth Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
In 1952 his parents moved the family from Altheimer, Arkansas to Ridgecrest, California where he attended James Monroe Jr. High and Burroughs High School. During his time at Burroughs, Honeymoon played basketball for the Burroughs Varsity team. After obtaining his GED, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served 9 months active duty, and 5 years in the United States Army Reserve.
After serving his country, Honeymoon moved to Los Angeles, CA in 1966 where he worked for the Sanitation District of Los Angeles County for over 40 years. Honeymoon resided in Carson, California where he lived for years until his retirement. After retirement he relocated to Sun City, Arizona. In 2013 he returned to Ridgecrest, California to be near his sisters and family. Honeymoon loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, playing dominos, listening to old school music, and telling stories of times in the past.
Honeymoon was the eighth of nine children, three siblings transitioned at birth. He is preceded in death by his father Fanch Sr., mother Mary Rogers, brother Fred Rogers, sisters Ethel Mae Lee, Juanita McDowell, Geraldine Rogers, and son Anthony Lewis.
Honeymoon is survived by two sons; Fanch "Pepper" Rogers III (Dana Michelle), LaRoy Glover (Sandra), sisters; Luecile Rogers and Catherine Rogers-Hall, grandchildren; Summer, Mikayla and Peyton Rogers, Cameron Glover, Taijanai and Thadius Galvez, Natazia, Jovonnie, Anthony Jr., Antiana, Taylee Etevati, Brando, Bryant, and Jaylenand Lewis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held at Holland and Lyons Mortuary, Saturday, March 11 at 12:00 PM.
