In Loving Memory of Geraldine “Gerri” Levy
On August 11, 2026, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away in Bluffton, South Carolina, after a lengthy battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on November 13, 1935, to Katherine and Leslie Stuart, Gerri was the second oldest of five girls. She joined the Navy after high school and became a mom for the first time to son Jacques. Later, she married Will Levy Jr., the love of her life, and three more children followed: Debra, Will III, and Niceole. The family toured Naval stations until Will Jr.’s final posting at China Lake Naval Weapons Center, and they set up a permanent home in Ridgecrest. A lifelong Catholic, Gerri made her church home at St. Ann’s Parish.
Gerri worked as a nurses’ aide and then, with her children in school, she put her business savvy to use. She served as the VA Coordinator at Cerro Coso Community College before moving into the weapons contracting field with PRC Engineering. Later, Gerri took her big personality and her love of people into retail, working in various positions at Walmart until her retirement.
A lover of books, television, movies, and an avid bowler, Gerri also enjoyed a road trip. She frequently journeyed to Las Vegas and Laughlin with her husband or with a group of friends. But mostly, Gerri loved her family. She thoroughly enjoyed spoiling and playing with her grandchildren – though she would never let them win at board games. You could find her in her element, weaving stories with Barbies or playing Paperboy on Nintendo.
Gerri was preceded in death by her husband Will Jr., and by her sisters Mary Creighton and Rosalie Karratti. She is survived by son Jacques Bell and daughter-in-law Glenda, daughter Debra Noyer, son Will Levy III and daughter-in-law Melanie, and daughter Niceole Levy; by her grandson Thayne Levy and wife Amber, granddaughter Madison Shelton and husband Dennis, grandson Will Levy IV and wife Meghan, granddaughter Kat Bell and wife Ali, and grandson Jeremy Bell and wife Lauren; and by her 12 great-grandchildren: Madden, Jackson, Cole, Quinn, Violet, River, Asher, Brayden, Braelyn, Brooklyn, Dallas, and Branson; and by sister Joan Nettles and husband John of Inyokern, and sister Catherine Mitchell of New Orleans.
Services for Gerri will be held at Saint Ann Catholic Church on Thursday, October 15th at noon, with burial following immediately after at Desert Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to World Central Kitchen in Gerri’s honor. She hated to see people go hungry… which you know if you ever visited her home and she tried to feed you nonstop. Donations can be made online at https://wck.org/ or mailed to World Central Kitchen, PO Box 96538, Washington, DC 20090.
