Long time resident of Ridgecrest, Gordon Adams, "Gordy," passed away on January 14, 2025 in
Ridgecrest, CA with the ones that loved and supported him the most by his side. Gordy was born
on April 18, 1936 in Gary Indiana to Francis and Marion Jones also of Indiana.
"Gordy" also known as "Mr. G" served in the Air Force flying in the Douglas C-47 "Skytrain".
After enlistment Gordy worked for Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach. He had a very vast
knowledge of many types of Aircraft and owned flew a twin engine Beachcraft " Duke".
He built speed boats that raced to Catalina island. He was also an accomplished sailor. He
sailed to the Panama Canal then to Hawaii and arrived in Seattle where he sold that boat. Years
later he bought another sailboat in Seattle and sailed the Inland passage to Alaska.
He started a company making windmills in Parker Arizona.
He moved to Ridgecrest in 1996 and opened a hot rod shop named " Street Rod Heaven " were
he builds some cool rides. He could be found in town at Starbucks and Denny's on a
regular basis. He was inducted into the "Hot Rod Hall of Fame".
Gordy had a vast knowledge of many things and loved to tell stories of his experiences in life.
