Gordon R. Doyel, 93, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026 where he was living with family in Paso Robles, California.
Gordon was born in November of 1932 in Bakersfield, California to Henry A and Lucille Doyel. He served in the US Navy from 1952-1956, then joining his parents in Ridgecrest where he met and married Nancy Ellen Graham and began his thirty-year career at China Lake NWC. He retired from NWC and then worked for Boeing where he also retired. Gordon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his children Ronald Doyel and wife Stephanie of Fairbanks, Alaska, Cynthia and husband John Poole of Paso Robles, California and Judith Doyel-Smith of Ridgecrest, brother Tom Doyel and wife Cathie of Ridgecrest, eleven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wife Nancy Doyel, son Brian Doyel, parents Henry and Lucille Doyel, brothers James Doyel, Henry Doyel, Charles Doyel, sisters Carolyn Doyel and Karen Darlene Doyel.
Gordon was a man fully dedicated to his family and friends, always willing to lend a hand and have a good laugh, which always came so easy for him. An avid fisherman, he loved adventures and traveling, making annual trips to Alaska, Branson Mo. and visiting family. A fair and honest man, we will miss his strength, his quiet fortitude, his wise guidance in our lives, and all of his silly quips.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday March 6 at Holland & Lyons Mortuary, directed by Pastor Wade, with graveside to follow at Desert Memorial Park. Visitation Thursday March 5 from 4;00-7;00p.m. at Holland & Lyons Mortuary.
