Mr. Roberts was born and grew up in Los Angeles, CA, the second son of Paul & Esther
Roberts. He was a veteran of World War II, having served proudly in the Navy in the
Pacific Theater. After the war, he worked as a cowboy and ranch hand in California and
Montana. In the early 1950s Mr. Roberts went to work at aerospace manufacturer
Lockheed Corporation at its Burbank, CA plant, beginning what would be a more than
thirty-year career with that company. During those years he was married to Mrs. Vivian
Roberts, and they had one son.
In the mid-1980s, Mr. Roberts married Lillian Marcene Doty. They retired and began a
long journey as husband and wife. Mrs. Roberts had five children by a previous
marriage. They enjoyed camping and spent much of their early time together traveling.
When they decided to slowdown, they became members of the Sonshine Senior Adult
Choir at Immanuel Baptist Church, where they attended church services regularly. They
enjoyed eating out and made many friends.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, his son, three stepchildren, and numerous
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters. He will be
missed by his family and friends, even as we celebrate his long and full life.
A memorial service will be held at Holland and Lyons Mortuary on Wednesday,
November 5, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. He will be interned at The National Cemetery in
Bakersfield, California.
