Heather Elyse Parkin

April 28, 1987 — November 6, 2023

Ridgecrest

With humble acceptance of God's Will and very heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beautiful first-born daughter, Heather Parkin.

Heather was born April 28th, 1987, and at the young age of 36 went to her Eternal Home November 6th 2023.  She was diagnosed with epilepsy at 9yrs old.  During her 27 year battle, she endured 3 brain surgeries, a Vagus Nerve Stimulator implant and countless cocktails of medications that unfortunately were never able to fully control her seizures. And rather than become a victim of this debilitating disease, every day she chose to fight to live as normal and independent of a life as epilepsy would allow.  She would reluctantly share HER own personal battles with epilepsy, never with a focus on her and her struggles but rather for others to gain a better understanding of this debilitating disease.  Throughout her life, despite the many challenges she faced, she never lost her faith in God to give her the strength to fight and endure.

She was a true American Patriot through and through, and always wanted desperately to serve her country in some form or fashion, but epilepsy would not allow it.  She considered herself a "Constitutional Conservative" and loved a good political debate with others.  She never backed down from her convictions.  If she became interested in something, she would research and learn all she could about it.  She had a great sense of humor and loved cornball jokes.  She enjoyed watching old black and white classic movies and had recently "discovered" sitcoms from the 50's 60' & 70's.  She was truly an "old soul" with a flair for the Las Vegas glitz and glam of the 40's.

The one thing that truly gave her the most joy was spending time with and being called "Auntie" by her nephews Braydin & Blayke.  Since she knew she would probably never be able to have children, those were "her boys", as she liked to claim.  So, until we see you again (and we will), we love you and will miss you terribly, Heathery Bear.

She leaves behind her parents, John & Patti Parkin, her sister Mekenna Golden, Brother-in-Law, Brandon Golden, her nephews Braydin & Blayke Golden, Grandmother Sandy Slater, Great Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and last but certainly not least, Lexi, her Maltese, a Registered Emotional Support animal and constant companion.

Her biggest desire was for people to recognize and more fully understand Epilepsy, its challenges and support further research for a cure.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Epilepsy Foundation at: www.epilepsy.com (a Tax Deductible 501c3).
