James Nathaniel Hunter

James Nathaniel Hunter (Jim) of Trona, CA passed away on June 12, 2024, at the age of 85.

Jim was born in Lenna, OK August 20, 1938, to Gentry Hunter and Johnnie (Eloise) Carr Williams. He came to Trona in 1952 with his mother and step-father James Williams. Jim had one sister, Leona Hunter Nelsen (deceased.) He is a graduate of Trona High School and except for the four years he was in the Army after graduation, he lived in Trona. He worked for the plant for 19 years as a Journeyman Electrician. Jim left the plant and formed Ke-Ja Contractors with business partner Ken Caraway and later he worked as a private electrical contractor.

All of his adult life he was an active member of the community he loved. Jim belonged to several organizations including the local Masonic Lodge, the Elks Club, the IBEW and served a term on the School Board. Jim was an avid hunter and belonged to the Trona Gun Club.
He was preceded in death by: Sharon Lewis Hunter (Wife) And is survived by:Ellinor Crossley Hunter (1st. Wife) 3 children: Deborah Hunter Kramer (Seth Allen, spouse), Deana Hunter Garrison (David Garrison, spouse) Danny Lewis (Marni Lewis, spouse) 9 Grandchildren: Venessa Kramer Gonzales, Devon Kramer, Briana Kramer Heath, Richelle Vassar Branson, Jennifer Garrison Smith, Cameron Lewis, Hunter Maddux, Kyle Leer and Eric Lewis. He also has several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at the Trona Cemetery on Saturday, June 22nd. Services will begin promptly at 10:00AM. Following graveside there will be a potluck reception at the Trona Elks Lodge.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers a donation be made in Jim Hunter's name to Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t) an organization dedicated to empowering disabled and homeless Veterans and their families, or a charity of your choice.
