Janet Teresa (Richardson) Zurn
September 26, 1942 – July18, 2025
Janet Teresa Zurn passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of
love, family, and enduring friendship. Born in Wichita, Kansas, to Juanita and Eugene
Richardson, Janet moved to Trona, CA, during childhood, later settling in Ridgecrest,
CA.
It was in Ridgecrest that Janet met the love of her life, Daniel Zurn, while attending
Sherman E. Burroughs High School. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years of
marriage and built a beautiful life filled with devotion, laughter, and adventure. They
were blessed with two daughters, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren,
forming the heart of a close-knit and cherished family.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband Daniel; her parents Eugene and
Juanita; stepfather Herschel Seaborne; and grandson Vincent Rojas. She is survived by
her daughters Theresa (Greg) Bell and Susan (Richard) Rojas; grandchildren Chelsey
(Isaac) Graham, Robert Rojas, Matt (Alexa) Rojas, and Marissa Bell; great-
grandchildren Scarlet Graham, Ivy Graham, Mason Graham, and Niko Rojas; as well as
many cousins and dear friends.
Her career spanned decades, to include Continental Telephone Company and
continuing through Comarco and other government contractor companies. Janet was
known for her dedication and resilience in all she pursued.
She found joy in camping, especially her annual trips to Quartzsite, AZ, with Daniel and
their many friends. The couple served as camp hosts for several years, warmly
welcoming fellow travelers with their signature hospitality. Janet's creativity was evident
in her love for crocheting, painting rocks, and crafting. She was also a proud member of
Ridgecrest Elks Lodge #1913 and Altrusa International Inc of Indian Wells Valley where
she built lasting friendships and gave back to the community she adored.
A joint Celebration of Life for Janet and Daniel Zurn will be held on Friday, July 25th, at
2 p.m. at Elks Lodge #1913, located at 201 E Church Ave, Ridgecrest, CA. All who
knew and loved them are welcome to attend.
