Jill Elaine Nichols

December 14, 1954 — August 9, 2022

Ridgecrest

Jill Elaine Nichols, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and wife gained her angel wings. She passed away in her sleep at home and surrounded by her family on August 9 th 2022, one month shy of 50 years of marriage.  She will be greatly missed by everyone. She was strong, beautiful, fun, funny, brave, giving, loving and selfless. She was the matriarch of our family and loved her family unconditionally. She will be missed by all of us. She was born in Salem, OR. on 14 December 1954 to Barbara Jean and Charles Edward Jones. Her father died when she was only 4 years old, the youngest of the family. Her mother later remarried to Mr. Robert Hiller and moved to Delaware where she fell in love with music and dance. At the age of 14 her family relocated to Reno, NV and attended Hug High School where she met her future husband Lawrence (Larry) Nichols. They eventually started dating, fell in love and were married at a very young age in September 1972. Jill moved to Ridgecrest, CA. in 1985 where her husband began working for the government and she helped open the JC Penny store and managed the Jewelry Dept. and eventually the overall store accounting. In 1988 she and her husband opened and operated the Sub-Marina restaurant for 12 years, a business that she put her whole heart and soul into and just about knew and was loved by most customers and knew them by their name and favorite meal. She continued to love music and dance as she would be often caught dancing as customers entered her business. She gained a real love for the game of golf, getting a Hole in One in only her second year of playing but nothing took a higher priority than her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren. A love that transcended all else. She is preceded in death by her father Charles Jones, mother Barbara Hiller and stepfather Robert Hiller (dad), sister Katherine Worley and brothers Chuck Jones, Monty Jones, Mike Hiller and sons Joshua and Anthony Nichols (both premature babies). She is survived by her husband, best friend and soul mate Larry Nichols, daughters Tammy McKinney, Christy Lange and son Jerame Nichols, all of Ridgecrest. Grandchildren Aaron McKinney of Texas, Michael and Brian McKinney. Jacob Masner who is currently enlisted in the Navy stationed in San Diego and Ethan Masner of Ridgecrest. Lillian, Ryland and Wyatt Nichols, all in Ridgecrest and great granddaughter Layla McKinney of Texas. Sister Lynn Warfield of Ridgecrest and brothers Robert Hiller of Boise, ID. and Von Hiller of Reno, NV. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Elks Lodge on September 3 rd , 2022 beginning at 1:00 pm. All who wish to pay their respects to Jill and the family and/or knew Jill are welcome. Food and a bar will be provided. In lieu of flowers please provide any donations in Jill's name to the Cancer Society for Breast Cancer awareness. She will be greatly missed by her family and all her knew her. Rest in Peace Jill as you dance with angels, life will never be the same with your absence and of the love you shared to all us. We miss you so much.
