John Joseph Derosa Iii

John Joseph De Rosa III, beloved husband, son, brother and brother-in-law passed away peacefully at Bella Sera on 1 Nov 2024 at the age of 68.  He was born on 23 January 1956 to John Jr and Frances De Rosa and baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jersey City, New Jersey.

He attended grammar school at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic School in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey where he served as an altar boy.  He played football and baseball for Lake Hopatcong Little League.  He enjoyed deer & pheasant hunting with his brother & father. He was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout and earned his Eagle Scout rank as well.

John moved to China Lake, CA in August 1972.  He attended Burroughs High School where he played football, baseball, and was a top-notch wrestler.  He graduated from Burroughs High School in June 1975 and then attended Fresno State College where he met and married his wife, Karla.  His career consisted of security, photography, and the love of law.

John was a devoted Catholic and was an usher at St Ann Church. He was involved in Bible study, Knights of Columbus and helped with bingo nights.  He also participated in the Relay for Life Cancer Walk every year and was on the Escargots team.  He enjoyed football and was a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers.

John had many interests and hobbies which included:  reading, playing the guitar, photography, astronomy, sudoku, puzzles-including putting together 3D puzzles, playing bingo, fishing, building and flying model airplanes, playing dominoes with his family and traveling with his family on cruises.  His love for animals included dogs and raising birds.

John will be missed by all of his friends at Bella Sera including his bingo buddies. He will be sadly missed but forever in our hearts.

John is survived by:  Catherine (De Rosa) Mattox-sister, Frances (De Rosa) Pegler-sister, Robert Pegler-brother-in-law; Judith De Rosa-aunt; Paul Predoehl-nephew.

John was preceded in death by: Karla DeRosa-wife, John Jr & Frances De Rosa-parents, Joseph John De Rosa-brother; John De Rosa Sr.-grandfather, Catherine De Rosa-grandmother, George P. De Rosa – uncle, Antonia Pochmursky-grandmother; John Pochmursky-grandfather; Vernon Predoehl-uncle; Jerry Mattox-brother-in-law.

There will be a Rosary and viewing at Holland & Lyons Mortuary on Thursday Nov 21st from 5-8 pm.  Rosary 5 pm, viewing 5:30pm – 8 pm.  The funeral service will be held at St Ann Catholic Church on Friday Nov 22nd at 11:00am.  Following the funeral service there will be a reception at St Ann Hall. Graveside service will be held on Monday Nov 25th at Mt View Cemetery, Fresno, California at 1pm.
