It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my husband John Albert Hyles who left us on May 8, 2024 at the age of 76. He passed in his sleep at home in Ridgecrest surrounded by family and loved ones.
He always had a sense of humor and was loved by all he knew. He had plenty of wisdom to share and cherished every moment he spent with family and friends.
Al was born October 13, 1947 at the Navel Ordinance Test Station, China Lake, CA. He was preceded in death by parents Thurman and Helen Hyles and survived by his wife Mary Bernadette, children Gia M Weber (Chuck), Trisha H Hyles, Ray T Hyles (Courtney), 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, sisters LeVon Cook (Andy), Laura Angeles (Ralph), numerous nephews, nieces on both sides of the family as well as many, many cousins on both sides of the family.
He was a member of Saint Ann's Parish for over 50 years, had a long career in Civil Service for 38 years and a lifelong passion for baseball and softball, from Little League to the Babe Ruth and Pony Colt leagues as well as Burroughs High School where he was Baseball MVP in 1965. He was a great all-around catcher, pitcher, and hitter with numerous home run hitting records on ball fields at China Lake, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Arrowhead Stadium for over 500 feet. In addition to playing baseball and softball, he also coached little league, loved fishing and was an avid golfer.
