John K Pringle

John Kenneth Pringle, Age 85, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 29, 2018.

Ken was born on March 14, 1933, to John Milton and Madeline Chatelain Pringle in Ogden, Utah.  He was the oldest of two children. He graduated in 1951 from Weber High School and served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Ken graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Physics. His professional career started at the Naval Ordnance Test Station, China Lake, California in the Earth and Planetary Sciences Division. He retired in 1996, after 36 years of service.

Throughout his life, Ken had many interests and activities which he enjoyed. He enjoyed square dancing, photography, and reading. He volunteered at Red Rock Canyon State Park and participated in the Audubon bird counts. He was knowledgeable about spiders, plants and rocks and taught Astronomy and Geology for Cerro Coso Community College for over 25 years. Ken was an expert on and co-authored a book about petroglyphs and led many local tours.

Ken was preceded in death by his brother Gordon Pringle, his wife of 29 years Anna-Lu Simmons-Pringle, two step children Jerry Simmons and Paul Simmons. He is survived by six children and two step children, James Simmons of Parker, Arizona, Thomas (Diana) Monahan of Caldwell, Idaho; Darl  (Maria) Pringle of Ames, Iowa; Roxon (Randall) Ford of Ogden, Utah; Natawni Pringle of Ventura, California; Kyle Pringle of Colfax, Washington; Shimene Pringle of Bremerton, Washington; Kirsten (Jeffrey) Cox of Hesperia, California; grandchildren James (Lauren) Pringle, Alycia Pringle, Ian Pringle, Kelsie Meyer, Rashelle (Garett) Crowther, Sean and Taylor Monahan; and a great-grand daughter Evelyn Pringle.

Visitation will be held January 9 th , 9:00 am at Holland and Lyons Mortuary followed by funeral services at 10:00 am. He will be interred on January 12 th in Uintah, Utah.
