John Gardner Turner, Jr

April 20, 1940 — June 4, 2025

In loving memory of John G. Turner Jr. Who passed suddenly on June 4 th 2025. John was born in Red Mountain California to John G. Turner Sr. and Evelyn Eudora Turner (Bird) on April 20 th 1940. John went to grade school in Johannesburg California he also attended high school in Randsburg California where he gained many life long friends. He worked at U.S. Borax in Boron California. During that time he met Margret (Peggy) Scoville and were married in 1960 and settled in Johannesburg where they started a family. They had 3 children Kelly, Marvin and Patrick. They divorced in 1972. John never remarried as most believed that he had his one true love.
He retired from U.S Borax in the early 70s and started a welding business where he was a contract Rig welder. He travelled to many places and worked for many companies. He moved to Ridgecrest in the 80s and mostly worked in Trona as a contractor. He eventually hired on with North America chemical company and worked maintenance at the power plant. John was an avid motorcycle rider and some of his children's earliest memories are riding on his motorcycle as a very small child. That love motorcycles was transferred to his boys and grandson to this day. John loved the Lord Jesus and gave his life to him. He was a long time member of Crossroads church and was loved by many.
We will all miss him very much but are confident in the belief that we will see him again soon. This is not goodbye but see you late. John is survived by his 2 sons John Marvin Turner and Patrick James Turner. Pat's fiancé Rita. Grandsons Jay Turner, Tim Beene, John Patrick Turner. Granddaughter Victoria Turner. 4 great grandchildren and many other relatives that loved him very much. Viewing is going to be Friday June 27th at 4:00pm – 7:00pm at Holland & Lyons Mortuary with memorial service Saturday June 28 th at Crossroads Community Church in Ridgecrest California. Interment will be private in Johannesburg, California. Thank you all for caring and loving our father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.
