Joy Machowsky, a longtime resident of Ridgecrest, Ca, died peacefully in her home with family by her side on March 13, 2023 at the age of 70.
Joy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Earl; her children, Bryan, Jacob and Melissa; her grandchildren, Jackson, Scott, Claire and JJ.
Joy was one of three triplets, born February 7, 1953 to Ernest and Audene Wattenbarger in Bakersfield, Ca. The triplets were the youngest of six siblings. She grew up with a mom and dad that was devoted to their community and church. She graduated a year early from North High School. Joy married her husband Earl August 18, 1970. The two of them moved to San Luis Obispo and then settled in Ridgecrest. Joy went on to achieve an Associate's degree in Home Economics. Her priority in life was to raise her three children, but she did work at a few places around town. If you saw her at work, you couldn't deny how her smile brought joy to all her coworkers and customers.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandma. Her family was her joy as well as her creative crafts. She was amazing at sewing, and if you were special enough, you'd receive some amazing handmade quilts, afghans, dolls or purses from her. She spent years specializing in her crafts. Joy grew up watching her dad sew and loved it ever since. She made her own clothes as a young teen and never stopped until her death. Joy was an amazing story teller and lived an enjoyable life. She loved camping at Pismo Beach, and enjoyed anything that involved her family. Joy also perfected her love of cooking. Her meals were heavenly and always grand. Joy's name represents just how effervescent she was a person. Joy always had a smile and was filled with true joy. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and anyone who knew her.
