Kathleen Elizabeth Pickett, 85, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2022 at her Ridgecrest home surrounded by her loved ones.
Kay was born December 5th, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Raymond and Alice Latham. At the age of 15, her parents moved the family to Ridgecrest, CA where she remained for most of her life.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Alice Latham, sisters Nancy Harvey, Sandy Latham, Diana Barrett and John Latham.
Kay is survived by her husband of 53 years, M. Frank Pickett, children Greg Lane (Olivia), Teri Mcdonald (Jim), and Kelly Valdez (Rickie), stepsons Jeffrey Pickett (Daniele), Brian Pickett (Sharon), and Darryl Pickett, grandchildren Jamie Lunsford, Brooke Scholl, Monique Cornish, Jesse Placencia, Bethany Weaver, Jared Placencia, Megan Meier, and Katie McDonald and many beloved great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Kay was loved and admired by many. Shortly after marrying her husband in 1969, Kay fell in love with Jesus and started the most profound trajectory of her life. In the 1970s she started the Ridgecrest chapter of Women's Aglow and became the first president. She served faithfully for many years in Women's Ministry leadership, hosting a television ministry on local cable network, and leading many bible studies and outreaches. In her 60s she went back to college and became an avid writer of short stories and essays.
Kay was the heart of her family and beloved by all. She will be remembered for her winsome charisma, playfully young heart, wisdom, and most of all faith. She fiercely loved and was fiercely loved in return.
The memorial service will be Saturday, March 26th at 10a.m. - St. Ann's Catholic Church. Reception will follow after the cemetery burial.
