Obituary

Kelli Elizabeth Sarrett

October 16, 1974 – September 25, 2026

Kelli Elizabeth Sarrett, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, educator, coach, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on September 25, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Kelli was born on October 16, 1974, in Lindsay, California, to Jerry and Adele Crow. In 1976, her family moved to Ridgecrest, California, where she would spend the rest of her life. She attended Immanuel Christian School and Monroe Junior High before graduating from Burroughs High School in 1992. She continued her education at Cerro Coso Community College, where she played volleyball for the Coyotes and also worked at Albertson’s.

In 1994, Kelli married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Dennis Sarrett. Together they raised six children: Blake Matthew, born in 1998; Dylan Thomas, born in 2003; and quadruplets Tucker, Hudson, Hunter, and Madyson, born in 2005.

Kelli began coaching volleyball at Burroughs High School in 1994, beginning a lifelong passion for athletics and mentoring young people. While raising her six children, she continued her education and worked part-time for the school district, eventually earning her bachelor’s degree and teaching credential in 2014.

Kelli spent nine years teaching at Faller and Gateway Elementary Schools, where she poured her heart into her students and formed lasting relationships with students and coworkers. She served as a mentor teacher at Gateway and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an international professional honor society for women educators. She was also honored as Sierra Sands Unified School District Teacher of the Year, recognizing her dedication and love for her students.

In 2018, Kelli returned to coaching volleyball at the middle and high school levels. In 2023, she became the Athletic Director at Burroughs High School, a position that brought together two of the things she was most passionate about: students and athletics. She poured herself into the role, caring deeply for both athletes and coaches and creating an open-door environment where everyone was welcomed. Even after becoming ill, Kelli remained committed to the people she served and continued to show up whenever she was able.

Family was at the heart of Kelli’s life. As the oldest sister, she was protective, loving, and always made her siblings feel cared for and important. Both of her younger sisters had the privilege of being coached by Kelli during their high school years. Growing up, Kelli’s family also opened their home to more than 100 foster children, whom Kelli embraced and loved as brothers and sisters. Her capacity to love extended to her many nieces, nephews, and great-niece, and she made a point of being present for the important moments in their lives.

Faith was an important part of Kelli’s life. She grew up attending Immanuel Baptist Church and was baptized there. Later, she found a church home at Hope City Church. Even during some of the most difficult days of her battle with cancer, Kelli made every effort to sit beside her family in church on Sunday mornings. Her faith and her family remained sources of strength throughout her illness.

Kelli is survived by her parents, Jerry and Adele Crow; her husband, Dennis Sarrett; her children, Blake (Natalie), Dylan, Tucker, Hudson, Hunter, and Madyson; and her siblings, Carolyn (Ryan) Isam, Cathy (Michael) Bachman, Caleb Crow, Chris (Rendi) Wyatt, and Franklin Crow, along with her many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, colleagues, former students, athletes, and coaches.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Cara Crow.

Kelli leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and service. She was a devoted wife and mother, a loving daughter and sister, a cherished aunt, a passionate educator and coach, and an Athletic Director who cared deeply for the students and coaches she served.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
