With heavy hearts, We announce the passing of Larry F. Smith, a devoted follower of Christ, a proud soldier, and a beloved father, husband, Grandfather and friend, who departed this life on July 6th, 2025 at the age of 77, after a long battle of Alzheimer's, and Dementia.
Born on September 16, 1947 in Cortland, NY Larry lived a life defined by faith, service, and strength. He served honorably in the United States Army as an active duty soldier and later retired from the Army Reserves, proudly dedicating decades of his life to protecting and serving his country, he later retired from Carrier Air Conditioning Corporation.
His commitment to duty was matched only by his devotion to God. A man of deep faith, Larry found purpose and peace in his relationship with the Lord. Even as his Alzheimer's and Dementia dimmed his memory, the light of his faith never faded. He continued to inspire those around him with his quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering belief in God's promises.
To know Larry was to know kindness, humility, and an enduring love for others. He faced his illness with remarkable grace, never letting go of his gentle humor or the warmth that defined his soul.
He is survived by his daughters Loarine Helsley, PeggySue Brown, and Deborah Edwards, grandchildren Joseph, Daron, Carlitto, Andreanna, Elizabeth, and Kyle, and numerous Great Grandchildren, and so many others who loved him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held on September 16th, 2025 @ 10AM, at Hope City Church 800 W. Upjohn Avenue, Ridgecrest, CA 935555, With Military Honors to follow in recognition of his service.
We take comfort in knowing he is now healed and whole. Resting in the eternal embrace of the Lord he loved so deeply.
