Letitia Elsie Corbridge

January 9, 1925 — November 3, 2022

Ridgecrest

Letitia Corbridge, affectionately known as Tish or Tee by her family and friends, passed away with her family by her side Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital.  Letitia was 97 and had battled with stroke and heart issues for the past two years.

Letitia was born to James B. and Elsie J. (Allen) Nosser on January 9, 1925, in Osdick (now Red Mountain), CA. Letitia spent her childhood in the Rand District and in Long Beach, where she survived the 1933 Long Beach earthquake. Her family eventually settled, in the Rand District. Letitia attended grammar school in a one-room schoolhouse in Johannesburg, CA and graduated from Randsburg High School. Following high school, she attended AV Junior College in Lancaster, CA and one year at the University of Redlands.

Upon returning from school in 1944, she went to work on the base (NOTS) in the Public Works Department.  In 1953, she married Vaughn Corbridge of Ridgecrest, whom she met years earlier at a dance in Red Mountain when they were introduced by Vaughn's cousin Bud Eyre.  They continued to enjoy dancing for the remainder of their married life.  Letitia and Vaughn lived on base for awhile, eventually building their home in Ridgecrest in 1962.  Letitia worked as the Public Works Officer's Secretary until she left the workforce after the birth of her son in 1957.

Letitia was preceded in death by her husband Vaughn, parents James Byron and Elsie J. Nosser, sisters Darleen Patton and Evelyn Byrd.  She is survived by her son Vaughn B. and his wife Sherry Corbridge, grandchildren Bryce (Andrea) Corbridge, Alyssa (Eddie) Cornell, and Tyler Corbridge and his fiancée Karina Costanzo. Great-grandchildren Drew and Jace Corbridge, and Sawyer, Vivienne, and Wyatt Cornell, a nephew, great-nieces, and cousins.

Letitia was always a classy dresser and cared about her appearance, even until the end.  People who knew her, considered her an elegant lady. She always loved doing special things for friends and family, like writing handwritten notes, cards and letters and she was an excellent gift giver. Her greatest joy in life was her family.  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of High Desert Haven for their loving and compassionate care.

Funeral arrangements will be private and are provided by Holland and Lyons Mortuary. Interment will be at Desert Memorial Park Cemetery.
