Linda Darlene Hollar

On Tuesday, November 23, 2021, Linda Darlene Hollar, loving mother and mamaw, passed away peacefully at the age of 74 after a brief illness. Linda - or Darlene as she was known to her family and friends - was born October 6, 1947 in Bakersfield, California to Elmer and Billie Rhyn. She was raised in Ridgecrest, California where she resided until her death.

Darlene loved adventures.  She was always up for a car ride, not caring where the destination may be.  Most adventures included a stop at a restaurant she had heard about and wanted to try. She loved food and was an amazing cook.  She loved antiquing with her daughter and son in law, a good poker game, playing Shanghai, sun flowers, the ocean and her grand dog Dexter.  She cherished time spent with good friends, laughing and sharing memories of days gone by.

Darlene loved spending time with her family.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest passion.  She was the best Mamaw and was so proud of each of them.  She always had time to listen, offer advice, and supported them in whatever way they needed.  Our family is blessed to have so many wonderful memories of our Mamaw.  We miss her so much.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, daughter Jennifer Beyer-Leach, father, Elmer, mother Billie and brother Kevin.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kelly and John Newton, sister Jeannie Perez, sister-in-law Rae Rhyn, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Suzanne and Tommy Watkins, Grandchildren - Megan and husband Cole, Jacob and fiancé Kristen, Zachary and wife Leah, Molly and fiancé David – and her great grandchildren - Haylie, Cody, Lilly and Amelie Rose (due January of 2022), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Mom – How can I say goodbye?  You are my best friend and I will cherish our memories.  Thank you for loving me and taking such good care of our family.  Save a seat for me at the poker table.  All my love – Kelly.
