Lori Ellen Helm Gross, a long-time resident of Ridgecrest, California, passed away peacefully in her own home on February 27, 2025, with her husband by her side. Lori was born on October 2, 1957, in Long Beach, California. At a young age, her family relocated to Ridgecrest, where she was raised.
Following her high school graduation, Lori pursued a career as a projectionist at the base theater. She continued her education by enrolling in evening college classes, ultimately earning an Associate of Arts degree.
Lori dedicated her professional life to the Naval Air Warfare Center, where she retired after a distinguished twenty-five-year career. In her leisure time, she enjoyed activities such as swimming, hiking, and cycling, accumulating over 30,000 miles on her bicycle. Lori was an active member of Crossroads Community Church, where she embraced her Christian faith and actively participated in church services, including serving on the worship team as a vocalist and keyboardist. She also volunteered for various church activities.
Lori is survived by her husband, Scott; her daughter, Melissa (Dan) Stull; her father, Brad Royer; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and her dog Roxie. She is also predeceased by her mother, Mavis Royer, and her brother, Micheal.
A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Community Church in Ridgecrest, California, on March 29, 2025. A reception will follow at the church.
