Psalm 46:10 "Be Still, and know that I am God"
Marie Piatt left this world for heaven February 12 th , 2022 in Ridgecrest, California a month shy of her 94 th birthday. She was born in Dott, West Virginia on March 14 th , 1928 and moved with her family to Spanishburg, West Virginia as a youth.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, William R Piatt, her mother and father, William and Florence Brown and seven brothers and one sister. She is survived by daughters: Tami Piatt of Ridgecrest, CA; Alice Ammen (Jim) of Missoula, MT; sons: Kevin Piatt (Angel) of Richland, WA; and John Piatt (Helen) of Arch Cape, OR. She also has twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
After high school, Marie attended a local business school where she honed her administrative skills. She attended Moody Bible Institute after this, using her administrative skills to pay her way through school in Chicago, Illinois. While working at a local church in Ontario, Oregon, Marie met Bill Piatt and his wife Mary. She and Mary became good friends. When Mary passed away, Marie helped in taking care of the six children (Robert, Russel, John, Tina, Alice, and Mary Jane). Two years later, in June of 1960, Marie married Bill and they had two more children (Kevin and Tami).
In 1972 Marie and Bill moved to Montana where they finished raising the youngest three kids. After the kids were all on their own, they traveled, spending winters down south. In the mid-90's, they finally settled down in Ridgecrest, CA where they could be with their youngest daughter and be part of raising her children.
Marie had the gift of hospitality. Always inviting friends and new people from church over for dinner. She loved to cook. We'll miss those meals! 😊
The graveside service will be held at the Bakersfield National Cemetery at 12:30pm on March 1, 2022.
