IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha Louise
Zielke
June 21, 1951 – February 19, 2026
Martha “Marty” L. Zielke, 74, passed away on February 19, 2026 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born on June 21, 1951, in San Diego, California, where she spent most of her childhood. She also lived for a short time in Washington State before returning to San Diego.
Marty graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1969, where she was a proud member of the marching band. She went on to attend Grossmont Community College, earning her Associate of Arts degree in 1972. Shortly after, she joined the United States Navy and was stationed at China Lake, where she met the love of her life, Daniel “Zeke” Zielke. The two were married in 1974 and shared many wonderful years together.
A devoted sports fan, Marty especially loved her San Diego Padres and the then–San Diego Chargers, loyally following both teams throughout her life. She also enjoyed hockey and soccer. Her passions extended beyond sports—she adored Disney, the Peanuts characters (with Snoopy holding a special place in her heart), and the simple joy of people-watching. Many summers were spent at the San Diego International Comic-Con, where she delighted in taking in the energy and creativity of the crowds.
Fulfilling a childhood dream, Marty became a Girl Scout as an adult, serving as a leader and co-leader for several troops. She was a steadfast supporter of her daughters, Kristy and Sara, cheering them on in Girl Scouts, track and field, marching band, and countless concerts and activities. Marty embraced every adventure with enthusiasm and love.
Marty faced cancer with extraordinary grace and resilience, enduring five separate battles with unwavering strength. She retired from NAVAIR on March 31, 2014, after an impressive 40 years of service to the Navy, including her years of active duty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel, and several other beloved family members. Marty is survived by her daughters, Kristy and Sara Zielke; her sister, Mary Woempner; close family friend Danny Kaster, her sister-in-law, Roslynn Campbell; and her nieces Brenda Formberg (Michael), Sasha (Joel, Jr), Izabella, and Sidney Crouch.
Marty will be remembered for her warmth, humor, loyalty, and the deep love she shared with her family and friends. Her presence will be profoundly missed.
