Mary Celesta Brooks

Nov 9, 1934 — Sep 10, 2026

Ridgecrest

Mary Celesta Brooks, known to all who loved her as Celesta Brooks, passed away on September 10, 2026, in Ridgecrest, California. She was born on November 9, 1934, in Roswell, New Mexico, and lived a life marked by faith, music, and quiet devotion.

Celesta was a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene in Ridgecrest, where her love for the Lord was a guiding part of her life. Her faith was also reflected in the music she cherished so deeply. She loved songs such as I’ll Fly Away, Amazing Grace, and My Chains Fell Off, each one expressing the hope and joy that meant so much to her.

Music was one of Celesta’s lasting gifts to others. She was a piano teacher for many years, sharing both her talent and her love of music with those she taught. Through those years, she touched many lives with patience, dedication, and the beauty of song.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Brooks, who passed away in 2023. In death, as in life, they remain closely joined, and she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

A memorial service for Celesta will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Ridgecrest, California. A graveside service will follow at Desert Memorial Park in Ridgecrest, where she will be laid to rest in the Garden of Solitude with her late husband.

Celesta will be remembered with love for her steadfast faith, her gift for music, and the warmth with which she shared both. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
