Mary Pangle, aged 85, passed away May 6, 2023 in Palm Springs, CA due to complications resulting from a broken ankle. Mary Doris Peterson was born February 23, 1938 in the mining town of Red Mountain, to Lavon Hatton Peterson and Carma Corbridge. The family left the mines and headed to Searles Valley in 1942, living first in Borosalvey, then settling permanently in Trona. Mary, or Dot (as her father called her), made it to age 17 before her brother, Donald, brought home his curly haired friend from Oklahoma, Lyndle Gene Pangle, who became the love of her life. They married in 1955 in Kingman, AZ and raised their four children in Trona. Mary devoted her life exclusively to the family she loved and, when needed, did odd jobs like childcare and ironing to help make ends meet. Her kids thought she loved nothing more than loading up the car early in the morning to take them and a couple of neighbor kids swimming at the West End pool. It turns out, what she really loved most were her children and she would do anything for them. Mary was resilient and faced life's trials head on with humor and singing "Little Purple Pansies" to her children and grandchildren. Mary was a faithful member of the Trona Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities , but mostly as a Sunday School and Primary teacher. A career change for Lyndle took them to Pacific Grove, CA for about a decade until they retired in Ridgecrest in 1996. After Lyndle passed in 2008, Mary joined two sons in Twentynine Palms, CA, spent some time in Monterey, CA, and lived most recently with her son in Joshua Tree, CA. Mary is predeceased by her husband, a son, Lyndle Jr., her parents and four siblings. Surviving are sons Jimmy (Amy) of Ridgecrest and David (Tina) Pangle of Joshua Tree and a daughter, Carma (Stuart) Dong of Pacific Grove. Also missing her are nine grandchildren – April, Stuart, Corey, Lyndsie, Candace, David, Taylor, Cody, and Joseph and fifteen great grandchildren – Jordynn, Layla, Avery, Joseph, Ricky, Lenny, Stuart, Cecil, Mikida, Ryan, Clement, Penny, Ryce, Denny and Lyndle. She would also want to thank Blanche, Dorothy, Rose, and Sophia for being her friends. Mary requested a private family gathering and has been laid to rest in Searles Valley Cemetery in Trona.
