Maryon Charles Cooksey

May 10, 1936 — June 29, 2021

Maryon Charles Cooksey went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on June 29, 2021, at
the age of 85.
He was born in Carter OK, the first-born son of RC and Pauline Cooksey, and raised on the family farm.
Maryon joined the United States Navy in 1956 and served 4 years as an Aviation Electronics Technician.
He moved to Mojave, CA in the early 70's where he married his loving wife Dollie on Jan 6, 1976, and
together they raised their blended family of one son and four daughters.
Maryon began his civil service career at Edwards Air Force Base and eventually retired as a Fuels
Distribution Mechanic Foreman in the mid 90's.
He leaves behind his loving wife Dollie of 45 years and his four daughters, Barbara Newman (Arden) of
Billings MT, Paula Michel (Mike) of Williston ND, Missy Schubele of Navarre FL, Mechelle Ernst (John) of
Inyokern CA; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Maryon was preceded in death by his parents, RC and Pauline Cooksey; his son, Marty Cooksey; his two
brothers, Steve and Wendell Cooksey.
Maryon was a devoted husband and father. He spent many years coaching little league baseball and
was present at any sport or activity his children were involved with. His influence extended beyond his
own family. He also positively impacted the lives of many people over the years who lovingly called him
dad, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved spending time camping and fishing with his family and friends.
He was a devoted member of the Elks Lodge, and enjoyed many years of traveling with his trike friends.
Services will be held on July 8 at 9:00 AM at The Lighthouse Ministries 111 Balsam St., Ridgecrest, CA;
Interment will take place with military honors on July 9 at 9:15 AM at Bakersfield National Cemetery
30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd., Arvin, CA.
