Olive Elizabeth English

Olive E. "Betty" Barbato English of Trona, California, passed away on February 27, 2023 at the age of 99.  She was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania on September 14, 1923 to Franklin B. & Olive M. Anspach.

Betty & family moved to California in 1951.  In 1960 the family moved to Trona California. In 1992 her husband, Angelo Barbato, passed away and she later married Murray English. During her years in Trona she was very active in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church as a member, Elder, Sunday school teacher, treasurer and many other volunteer positions. She also worked for Trona Hardware under three different owners: the Zimmerman's, McGlothlin's and Haughton's. She was a member/docent for the Searles Valley Historical Society and a member of the Trona Senior Center as well as volunteering her time at the Trona Thrift Store.

Betty is survived by her three daughters Donna Saulino, Harriet Post and Rebecca Stanley. Grandchildren, Ted (Kathi) Saulino, Angelina Saulino, Les Lindsey, Mike (Michelle) Stanley, David (Terri) Lane, Jeff Blyler, Jennifer Stanley, Gina (Mike) Kauppi.  Great-grandchildren, Tyler (Joy) Laird, Kaitlyn Saulino, Melodie (Bob) Salek, Colton Stanley, Jazmyn & Jyles Lindsey, CeeAnna (Josh) Robertson, Matthew Blyler, Mitchell (Haley) Blyler, Shea & Maya Saulino, Kameron Stanley, Antonio Payne-Stanley, Aneesia, Kai & Anthony Payne.  Great-Great-Grandchildren, Atieleigh Lane-Cartmell, Harley & Karter Robertson, Lincoln Blyler and one on the way!  As well as her Bonus Grandchildren and their families,  Tony, James, Vincent & Roman Alaniz, Roy (Becca) MacLean, Kathy MacLean Uetz, Cyndy (John) Bradley, Debbie (Stacy) Smith & Connie (Tyler) Shropshire.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husbands George Blyler, Angelo Barbato and Murray English, Great-granddaughter Sophia Macaria Vasquez, Son George L. Blyler, daughter Deborah Lindsey, Son-in-Laws, David R. Post & Charles W. Stanley.  Siblings: John Lamberson, Ida, Thomas, Franklin, Behney, Alexander, Richard and Robert Anspach.

Visitation will be at Holland & Lyons Mortuary in Ridgecrest, CA. on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. Graveside Services at Searles Valley Cemetery, Trona, CA, on Saturday March 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.  A reception will be held at the Trona Senior Center following the Graveside Services.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Trona Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Searles Valley Historical Society, or the Trona Senior Center.
