Longtime Ridgecrest resident, Patricia (Pat) Lillian Perkins, passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 23, 2024. Pat was born on October 21, 1928 to Jefferson Celmer Ross and Margaret Ballantyne, in Los Angeles, CA.
Pat graduated from Los Angeles High School in 1946 and went on to study at Sawyer Business School. At the urging of her mother, who had moved to the area to work at NOTS, Pat reluctantly came to Ridgecrest in 1947 to "give it a one year try". It was there that she met Oscar "Perk" Perkins and they were married in 1948. They raised four children in Ridgecrest and never left the valley.
Pat was active in church and community organizations in support of her family and children. She "babysat" for many years in their home and in her later years worked for Michael Bachman, D.D.S.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents and her beloved husband Oscar Arthur Perkins. She is survived by her children Thomas (Kim) Perkins, Nancy (Megan) Pace, all of Ridgecrest, David Perkins of Bakersfield and Steve (Melodie) Perkins of Auburn, WA, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and her brother Michael Ross.
She will be interred at Desert Memorial Park in Ridgecrest and a memorial service will be held on November 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Immanuel Baptist Ministry Center, 1201 N. China Lake Blvd, Ridgecrest, CA 93555. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Immanuel Christian School at 201 West Graaf Ave, Ridgecrest.
