Scottie Williams was born in Ridgecrest, California and grew up there with his parents, Katherine and Scott, and his sisters, Kimberly and Sarah. The youngest of three, he was the apple of his mom’s eye and a source of joy, humor, and warmth to everyone who knew him. He was deeply loved by his family: his grandma JoAnn, his stepdad Michael, his brother-in-law Frank, his nephews Frankie and JJ, and his nieces Lilianna, Francesca, and Aria. He was preceded in death by his father Scott Williams, his grandpa Gilbert Yglesias, and uncles Don Williams, Henry Yglesias, and Joe Yglesias.
From a young age, Scottie was active and adventurous. He played basketball and football throughout his childhood, forming bonds and memories on the courts and fields that shaped the man he would become. You could find him running around the neighborhood with a pocketknife clipped to his shorts—part tool, part treasure—always ready to explore, help, or simply stir up a little harmless mischief. Those early friendships remained some of the most important relationships of his life.
Scottie graduated from Burroughs High School in 2015. Soon after, he proudly enlisted in the United States Army. During his years of service, he was deployed to Syria and Korea, where he formed lifelong bonds with his fellow soldiers. He was honorably discharged in 2023. His dedication, courage, and loyalty were evident in everything he did.
After his service, he went to school to become a welder. Scottie was creative and an exceptional handyman. He was a perfectionist which translated well into a successful gate and fence business in Ridgecrest. He eventually moved to San Diego where he began pursuing his career as an electrician. Scottie found peace, light, and love in Ocean Beach. He loved the beach, the ocean, and the people. He made a home there with the love of his life, Bree.
Scottie was known for his love of the outdoors, his fierce protectiveness, and his positivity. He was very intentional in everything he did, and he had a way of making people feel seen and supported. In the time leading up to his passing, Scottie found a meaningful relationship with God, a source of deep peace that guided him out of a difficult season.
His loss will be mourned forever by his family, his friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.
He will be remembered always for his heart, his bravery, and the love he gave so freely.
