Seth David Benjamin Tait, of Ridgecrest California and from Inyo County, unexpectedly passed from this life on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 21 years old.
A Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 10 am at Crossroads Community Church in Ridgecrest, California. All are welcome to attend.
A community service will be held at Lone Pine Spainhower Park on Sunday, October 5, 2025 to dedicate the new Gazebo that Seth built to him. All are welcome to attend.
Seth was born in Lone Pine, California in 2004, spent his youth living in Olancha, and lived in Ridgecrest as an adult where he worked as a Mechanical Engineering Technician at China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station.
Seth was a man with a deep love for learning, creating, making music, making things work, and helping others. Since infancy he loved working with tools. As a boy he loved helping his dad with construction projects. As a youth he enjoyed music, photography, ham radio, cars, airplanes, model rocketry, mathematics, and moviemaking with his older brother James. As a young man he enjoyed shooting, robotics, working on cars, flying airplanes, and playing instruments. He skillfully brought his ideas into reality with wood, metal, electronics, micro-controllers, radios, and computers.
And as an adult, he was highly treasured by his family, his friends, at his church, and at his work. Seth constantly found ways to challenge himself and learn. He loved mechanical and automotive projects, coding, and making music, and was committed to meeting his goals, setting new higher ones as soon as he achieved the first. He masterfully balanced working, having fun, and showing up fully for those he loved. If there was a problem to be solved, Seth was the man to have on the case. If there was an idea to be explored, Seth was an excellent man to have on your team, and if there was someone who was isolated and alone, Seth was a man who would come alongside and offer himself as a friend.
Seth excelled at everything he put his hand to. As a youth in Boy Scouts, he played bugle in parades and color guards with Lone Pine Troop 82, and was an example of ingenuity, dedication and service. He taught merit badge classes at summer camp even before he was old enough to be a counselor. He completed the rank of Eagle Scout with Ridgecrest Troop 35 by designing and building the iconic new gazebo stage in the Lone Pine Spainhower Park.
Seth was an avid musician who loved to play guitar, mandolin, banjo, trumpet, piano and drums; and to beat-box, sing and rap. In his youth he played music with his family at several local events, and played trumpet with the pep band for high school games. He was a brilliant lyricist and wrote many original rap songs that spoke of his values of standing up for truth and integrity. He was also a dedicated member of the worship band at his church.
On June 7, 2024, he married the love of his life, Mikayla, at Crossroads Community Church. He was devoted to providing for her, and loved being her husband and preparing for their future together.
Seth is survived by his wife, Mikayla Tait, his parents, David and Jennifer Tait, and his brothers and sisters, James Tait, Caleb Tait, Natalie Tait, and Abigail Tait.
