MY BUDDY & BEST FRIEND
(Written with the loving help of Shirley's childhood friend)
An idyllic childhood in Orange, on the street of Mayfair
Memories and friendships all started right there
Parents Leroy and Dorothy, a house with a pool
Educational beginnings at St. John's Lutheran School
Neighbors from church became lifelong family
A few still in touch sharing in this tragedy
Villa Park High School, graduating class of 68
Continuing a journey that which we appreciate
Leroy and Dorothy, and Johnson trucking company
Banded together in a matchmaking conspiracy
An introduction to Terry, back to Onyx to BBQ
As love and affection for each steadily grew
Leroy delivered on Thursday, Shirley to Terry
A speedy courtship that led them to marry
From Schooners to the Brewery and Angel games
Life before Terry was never the same
Reno and Laughlin and theme centered slots
Populated memories that these two lovebirds got
Her love for Celine, liking Sonny and Cher
Parts of her passion she'd gladly share
Fishing and camping, travel for two
Alaska and Hawaii favorite things to do
Children of their own, not in the cards
Adopting Jason and Tristan both fulfilling yet hard
More children came through school and softball
A generous heart, touched one and all
Needlepoint and chili cook offs, awards to win
Ever supportive Terry was always all in…
There are so many special friends to many to list
Beta Sigma Phi was a sorority of friends
Cancer entered her life starting a journey of chaos
From the City of Hope to Ridgecrest when her battle was lost
Leaving behind Buddy and Oscar, canine kids to defend
Cherished husband Terry, her lifelong friend
Joining Leroy and Dorothy and her brother Sid
Forever reunited as the last surviving Kidd
OUR BUDDY, sweet soul and special friend
Love, laughter and memories will never end
Until….we meet again
